Combat Record
Career stats and match history, designed for controller navigation.
SELECTED WORK / PREVIEWOverview
Combat Record has been part of Call of Duty for years, and players were waiting for it after Modern Warfare II launched in October 2022. I led UI design for the version that shipped with Season 1, covering career stats, match history, and weapon performance.
The challenge
The problem
Players needed a quick summary of how they were doing, plus detailed breakdowns of matches and weapons. Connecting those views without making players dig for what they wanted was the hard part.
The goal
Make career stats easy to scan, with clear paths into match history and weapon performance using a controller.
Constraints
It lived inside Modern Warfare II’s menus on console and PC, so it had to read clearly from the couch and up close at a desk.
Career at a glance
Level, loadout, and recent performance.
From wireframe to final
The wireframe spread stats across five panels, including leaderboards and a single featured weapon. The final focused on three areas: career, top weapons, and recent matches, with filters for lifetime, the last 20 games, and the current season. That made the essentials quick to scan, with details one press away.
Recent matches
Review recent results, then open a match for a detailed breakdown.
Recent matches, as shipped.
Weapons & progression
Move from weapon classes to individual weapons to compare performance.
Launch and results
Shipped with Modern Warfare II’s Season 1 on November 16, 2022, the same day Warzone 2.0 launched. It gave Core Multiplayer players access to career stats, match history, and weapon performance. Game launch context: In its first 10 days, Modern Warfare II passed $1 billion in sell-through, with more than 1 billion matches and 200 million hours played, before Combat Record shipped.
